You have just received an amazing job offer abroad but you’re still considering whether to accept it or not. You might be thinking “I can survive being away from home for two weeks, but two months or longer is an absolute no go”. No way you can leave your family, friends or partner behind and that’s understandable. Immigrating to a foreign country will obviously require you to kind of start your life over again.
From settling into a new home to making new friends and getting used to a different culture. It’s a risk and a huge step into the unknown. However, it’s a bold and courageous step into the unknown, one that will definitely change your career and life for the better.
Here are five good reasons why you should reconsider and not reject that job abroad yet:
1. You might regret it
Never let the fear of the unknown hold you back from taking hold of an amazing opportunity. I always remind myself that it’s better to have a ‘try and error’ situation then to one day wake up and say “I wish I did it, I wish I took that chance.”

2. You need to make the decision for ‘you’
I’m sure that whatever decision you make your family will always support and encourage you to do what’s right for YOU. As long as your decision is not affecting anyone negatively, never turn down great opportunities for the sake of people. Friends will come and go – It’s time you live for you.
3. You will feel enriched
A career abroad will give you the opportunity to practice and learn a new language. Also living in a different culture and environment will teach you to see life from a different perspective. It’s a great way to connect and become the best of friends with people from all over the world. Due to my work experience abroad, I have gained amazing friends from Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and more.

4. You enhance your career
Working on international projects and assignments will give you the chance to improve and broaden your skill-set. And with many businesses expanding their services globally, having international work experience will give you the extra edge in today’s competitive job market.
5. You set your own time frame
Accepting a job abroad does not mean you’re leaving everything behind for good. You will always have the chance to visit your family back home or for them to come and visit you. Also, this is not a decision you are taking for the rest of your life. You can try it out for a period of six months, a year or maybe two. You decide how long you want to stay and how far you want to go – Just make sure you do not miss out on the experience – Make the decision for YOU.
